9/11 It's always darkest before the dawn
For so many reasons, September 11, 2001 is paramount in the reality the world is collectively experiencing. I had just finished reading Howard Zinn's "A people's history of the United States" so 9/11 didn't scare me, I saw it as a wake up call. I chose to look at that day from the perspective of love rather than fear.
I truly thought 9/11 was the perfect opportunity for us to reflect on how we as a nation have been acting for the last 200+ years. I wondered if this obscure act of love would really cause the most egocentric country to humble itself and turn inward. My hopes were high, but I feared we would once-again fail to learn from history.
My fears became reality, when the first words out of the Presidents mouth were, "They hate us for our Freedom..." I still can't believe people bought that! This was our chance to reflect and realize the error of our ways. To no avail FEAR SELLS!
Today I find myself saying, "thank God for terrorism." That day woke me up and I have not been the same since. Our misinterpretation of 9/11and the mass marketing of F.E.A.R. (False Evidence Appearing Real) has caused the deep division among Americans and the world community.
The last thing I want to do is to turn this into something political. I simply want to offer a different perspective. To challenge what I believe to be massive misconceptions on the part of our leadership. I am not judging the actions taken they just don't feel right to me.
It seems the path we take to achieve a goal would have something to do with the character of the outcome (karma). I just want to make it known that NOT every American was behind taking instant, blind, premeditated revenge before we looked inward. I refuse to be uncounted.
I have been told that offering this kind of opinion right on the web site may offend some people and negatively effect sales of the T-shirts. I doubt it.
